... and the Tree Becomes Art | The 5-star hotel Schenna Resort Quelle des Lichts was to be rebuilt. On the selected construction site – a children’s playground – stood a mighty cedar. The many childhood memories moved the Pföstl-Wörndle family to incorporate this valuable piece of nature into their new hotel. Hansjörg was the right person for this responsible task: he transformed the cedar into a seating object and at the same time a work of art, which has been given a worthy place in the entrance hall of the hotel.

Executioner, the Apple Tree | We once had paradise right outside our door: colorful flower meadows, many trees with fruit… Now these natural beauties are fenced in, covered with nets and drenched with chemicals. In the past we carpenters and artists could still work with apple wood, today we can hardly find enough wood even for a tabletop. Let us give the apple tree its place back – after all, it has never had peace since Adam and Eve.

Soul Tree | Ash root, steel and gold leaf | Everything that exists is related to us humans. Just as each of us carries a soul within, every living being – and every tree – carries one as well. Soul and body, nature and human beings are meant to find each other again through the Soul Tree. The gold symbolizes the soul of the tree which, together with the root (body), forms a whole. The Soul Tree invites us to treat nature with respect, as if it were spiritually related to us.
